"A community of faith seeking to know Christ and to make Christ known"
Hi Beloved Friends!
Yesterday I contacted all of our HPCC leaders. I asked their thoughts on whether or not we should cancel our congregational activities for now. They were unanimous in their thoughts that we should not gather. Last night Governor Polis helped us come to a conclusion. There are to be no gatherings of more than ten people anywhere in Colorado.
There will be no congregational activities at Harvey Park Christian Church until Sunday April 19th. This means there will be no worship services, no Sunday school, no Bible study group, no meetings, nor any other gatherings at the church building for the next four weeks.
We encourage you to spend time in prayer. Do daily Bible study. Connect with each other in whatever ways you can. Listen to sermons and Bible teachings and worship music on TV, radio and the internet.
I know this time away from church takes us through Easter. I am sad about that. But let's each still celebrate Easter in whatever ways we can. Jesus is still risen! He is still alive! He is still with us!
In addition, we will suspend the Direct Mail Campaign for now. Rejoice though, that we have increased our community's awareness of HPCC through the three mailings we did send out.
We will keep track of things concerning the pandemic. If the situation changes for the better, we will let you know. We may get back to church earlier than April 17th, or it may take longer.
I agree with this decision by our HPCC leaders and with the order by Governor Polis. It does make me sad, but we must do all we can to stop the spread of this virus.
Let's be faithful. Let's be strong prayer warriors. Let's not allow this pandemic to defeat us. Let's pray for our church, all churches, all people, our state, our nation, and in fact the entire world.
In Christ, Thom
